Yes, the two of you can run teams and some companies will hire you for their cdl program. You won't make $3K a week though. If you attend a private cdl school that's approved by Old Dominion Freight Lines and they hire you to run teams, you can each make $1500+ each week.
You can both sign up with a company like CRST and run teams together and do ok. The people that fail at CRST are the ones that run teams with someone they don't know or like. In your case it should work out since you will be teaming with your friend.
Where is your location, so we know the hiring area you live in for various companies.
Yes, it's easy to get in to trucking and several companies will pay for your training and hire you to run teams.
    Here's a few to research:
    CRST
    Jim Palmer Trucking
    Celadon ($.60 cpm split)
    Contract Freighters (www.cfidrive.com)
    FFE (Frozen Food Express)
    Roehl Transport
Apply to all of them, then take the best offer.

    300 net for a while.

YOU spend 8 years paying collections callers from Dear Uncle Sam. 6000 dollars against your school a investment against possibly 45 years of your future income of .. a million plus should be paid the first 12 months. Or better yet cash the school, no debt. Then go to school.

You two rookies as a team? I hope you two are very good friends. And can stand some of the interesting things that will happen during your work. That might be enough to bankrupt both of you. Ive had police chiefs want to toss me into jail over a weekend wait on the judge next tuesday for a boo boo in his town once or twice. Ive had been a Husband wife team with three drug dogs going over a Mexican Flower loaded trailer 20 miles out of chicago hoping like hell there aint nothing smelling on that dam thing. (*There wasnt.... thankfully. but one of them sniffed my hands from my recent shooting time... at home.... too.... that took some friendly splaining...)

    Do I go on?

Try it. If you got the cash saved up for school have at it. Don't go into debt. Then save a thousand or two then head out. (Thats each of you two...)

You will be telling stories to your grand children. Or.. you might run over some lawyer's boots on a right turn and be fired 3 months into your adventure... who knows. (I actually ran a lawyer off once in a particular highway problem that was a real cluster... they raised hell but thankfully my unit number was one inch high painted in 1958 sun faded ahead of the air filter....)

This picture is refrigerated division teams.

This picture is Club Car division teams hauling golf carts and delivering them all over the USA and Canada.

Several other divisions to choose from. I remember a couple years ago a couple of guys signed up to haul John Deere equipment as a team operation.
A guy last week signed up for their cdl school, then a dedicated run to California.
All kinds of good stuff available if you have a good work ethic and don't sweat the small stuff.
