Thats a really nice way to treat your employees.
They did that here with a restaurant, only to top it all off, instead of telling the employees, the called the reporters at the newspaper. When the reporters showed up, they announced that it was the restaurants last day and the doors would be closed tomorrow for good. 
Pretty crappy way of telling your employees that your closing. No notice, no nothing.
