Students get a salary of $400 per week when they are with a trainer then they go to 34 cents per mile for first 3 months, then to 35 cents, at 6 months it goes to .36 cents, at 9 months it goes to .37 cents then at 12 months it goes to .38 cents with a review every 6 months.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

WOW!!
I TRULY & GENUINELY understand the truck driver's thoughts. HOWEVER, you do NOT give away customers goods! That should have been cleared with Home Depot & his company.
If the truck driver had personally paid for and owned the load of lumber, and then gave it to the people who needed it, that would be more than fine. AGAIN, it was NOT the truck driver's load, it was a load that belonged to someone else.
The only way he could have legally bean able to give away the load is if the receiver told him to dispose the load, (didn't want it), and his company than said to do with what he wanted to with the load.
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!Last edited: Sep 14, 2017

I am completely mystified by how big business never seems to see the opportunity in small things. Yes under normal circumstances giving away the load was wrong but this was not normal. Both W/E and HD missed a prime opportunity for major positive pr. The missed revenue was a drop in the bucket considering HD was selling out of lots of items n multiple stores. These storms are cash cows for them. Shoot both companies could have split the cost and gotten the good out of it. Oh well what do I know I'm just a flunky from Z-hills, Fla. That HD is only 3 blocks from my home. Prayers for the driver to get a far better job. We need more people like that doing the right thing.

Sounds like he wanted to screw western, the article said he left and went home to Massachusetts

They prolly told him to wait out the storm , and he said F THAT unloaded and got the hell outta there

If the story is accurate this driver did the right thing helping people who needed help. He lost his Job because a company is worried about their profits. What if that plywood saved lives even if it was just one, isn't that worth the cost of a load of wood!
Western Express should be ashamed of themselves, pathetic! -
Its not just about the cost of the load though. I know this is a special circumstance but you have to look at as a business. They loast a customers product. They failed that customer. If a company does that enough times these big accounts will ban them from hauling their stuff. Im not.saying I wouldnt do the same thing he did but I would expect repercussions for it. If i cpuld get ahold of the customer or my company and get approval I would but if not then its on you.

I agree with @Sleepy3103 in most of the cases. Drivers and companies that continue to do the wrong things will eventually get rid of themselves and deservedly so. My point was that both of these companies missed the opportunity to make a good impression for their companies. These types of opportunities are where you gain loyal customers just because you did the right thing and not necessarily because you have the right product or price. W/E missed a chance to show drivers and other employees that they care and are a good company to work for. Sometimes you have to take a minute to think about your response instead of just applying the company policy that says this deserves X reaction. Every once in a while your reaction may need to be Y or Z.

Do that to my freight, and you'll find yourself dancing in front of a judge. A company's profit and loss statement is hardly a reason to steal the goods he was supposed to deliver. Before he gave away someone else's property, he should've made sure WE paid him enough to reimburse HD.
