5-6 days a week doing linehaul doesn't seem so bad now. Not a whole lot of weird debates or interactions to get into with certain people. And to me, I'm one of those guys that enjoys running the same sets of routes every week, as opposed to varied ones. I easily pulled 5-6 night/week runs when I loaded just one dairy that was 180-240 miles outside of town and back. Felt less like a job and more like something I just did every night. No getting bugged by the dispatchers about getting to another barn on time, no having to deal with some other farmer going off about how the last driver didn't hose the place down.
I'm still kind of shooting for a position with Old Dominion or Estes. Got some actual calls back and a face to face with the TM's at some nearby-ish terminals, but no dice yet. I might just get myself away from the barn-loading drama and go with the regional work at the current company while I wait around for word from the actual, LTL outfits I applied to. Make three trips to SATX and back to Clovis a week, and then take Weds/Thurs off.
4 on 3 off?

i believe we have that---the 4 on 3 off linehaul, but you'll have to move up here(and run teams....). Minimum $1500 per week gross.
2) There's a beverage delivery outfit up here (Republic to be exact) that has a 4 day work week, weekends off, but you will be working your tail off. Not worth it in my opinion. -
Only time I have a 4/3 schedule is during the winter when freight is slow and dispatch sits me for a night. I'm not expecting that as much this year. I'm getting high enough on the board that there are enough guys under me to sit first.
Linehaul schedules are weird. It's a 24/7 business and someone has to take the tues-sat with a 3 a.m. gate. I can't wait til we bid again. The way my current schedule goes I have thurs and Fri off. But since I don't get home til 2-3 pm on thurs, the rest of that day is a waste and I have to sleep Saturday away to go in that night. That just leaves Friday to get all my home stuff done.Last edited: Sep 14, 2017
Bob Dobalina and bentstrider83 Thank this. -
At this point though, most of the places I've been interviewing to have been laying the "Sun/Mon" nights off thing on me. Can't hang with the cool kids, but I guess I get to do plenty of house-cleaning and lone-wolf trips on those types of days.G13Tomcat Thanks this.
