Howdy, i was just reading alittle about this truck.Only 505 factory hp.Nothing to shake a stick at tho.
Has anyone had reports-good/bad on the later model Macks?
Wonder how that MP8 motor is holding up.
Cant be down there in line w/International's-can it?
    Thanks.

All-new Mack Anthem is the future of traditional big rigs

I don't know if they still do it, now that they're in bed with Volvo, but when Mack rated their horsepower, it was at the wheels. Everyone else goes off the flywheel, so when they say 500 hp, it may only be 400 at the wheels. But again, I don't know if they still do that.

As for the MP8 engine, I know a handful of driver's running them and they don't complain about the engine.

I'm running the MP8 and must say I'm very impressed. Great power, great reliability, and good MPG's. Currently at 6.9 MPG running legal weight building materials flatbed (29,100 empty). The new Mack Anthem is the same powertrain and frame just new cab and body, which Mack desperately needed. My sleeper is my biggest complaint of my Pinnacle. I also have a 05' freight liner with a C-15 500HP 18spd 3.36 rears and the MP8 holds it's own just fine.

So what makes this truck the future? The hood mirrors that stick out far enough to be lost almost immediately in a parking lot? Cause the International LT already has those.

The what appear to be gawd awful seats that are uncomfortable just to look at? Those are put here already too.

The overbright LED headlights? Yep, been blinded by those already.

The screwing up an already incredibly uncomfortable cab? Cause my old FLD flattop rode better than a new Mack.

I'll give them this much....I need to see the sleeper in real life to make an accurate judgment, but it sounds like they managed to screw that up, too!

And that MP8 motor? Did they ever get around to fixing the "lets eat the injectors every 25,000 miles, YAY!" issue?

Yes the injectors were an issue that most were replaced under warranty. Mine have been fine since. The FLD's were good trucks. But, I'd put my Mack up against that for ride quality for sure. If you've ever been in a Mack the sleeper has always been lacking, I'd say they could only improve on it.

Worst built truck I have been in since the early 90s. The Mack Anthem I am driveing is poorly built. The front end is already popping like a truck with 400, 000 miles on it. (15,000 on mine now) it's a squeak and rattle box. Funny thing is Mack gives you this really robust TV mount system..... Rattles like crazy installed properly. You can't make this crap up! Mack really dropped the ball on the Anthem.
Stay in Pac Car gang... Freightshaker....whatever.
Mack's glory days are long gone.

At least they didn't make a bazillion of those POS trucks and sell them for a dime a dozen like they did with the International Prostars
