    I absolutely agree that said.
I wish these starter companies would give better training on what to look for.... Honestly I just look for thing that are obviously broken and that bolt nuts and Carter keys are present and tight.... Never been shown what else to look for not because I don't want to know or can't learn it but because I can't find the information and I am NOT a mechanic

Then you haven't looked hard. There are a ton of videos on youtube. There are tons of websites. There is a list in every state's cdl manual. There are people willing to help at every truckstop if you just ask. There are a lot more resources out there too.

    Grubby Thanks this.

This is one area where, unless trained by a conscientious veteran, experience is unfortunately, the best teacher. *smh*

Glad I didn't take the dump truck subcontractor job

Would of been paying for a.new tire for someone's else's truck

Edges on the asphalt platform do the same thing

I don't mess around with steer tires, when they blow it's a dangerous situation and I've seen em take the hood, headlights and bumper with em when they blow.. that $500 tire is a heck of a lot cheaper than a accident or a new hood or very least a road call for a $500 tire.

My Hirail truck is always getting cuts in the tires and chunks taken out from setting on and off the rails, the edges of the crossing pads tear them up.

The videos and especially what is in the manual only tell you what to look at not how to tell if it's going bad....... The not cracked bent or boken properly secured #### is obvious no #### if it's cracked it's bad if it's bent it's bad..... But such as looking at your leveling Vale and knowing if it good or not... I didn't know until I had one go bad and a mechanic pointed it out to me that THAT specific piece of metal should be level with the rest of the truck.... Not in any of the YouTube videos or in the manual..

I would almost guaranty that a full half of the drivers out here don't know what a drag link is, let alone how to pre trip one.

The truck riding like crap didn't clue you in? How about the empty air bags?
Not everything needs to be in a manual or on utube.

I really miss the days when schools taught kids how to think.

Schools don't need to teach people how to think. It's something you can do or it isn't. Problem is that society generally lets people get away with not thinking so it doesn't get practiced or exercised.
