    He's already leased to LS.

Yep. Better be able to survive cheaper rates for 6 months or so.

    100% of $700 is still a lot more than 65% of $1,000.

That is true but not true. Since Landstar pays for trailer too then Landstar numbers win. Plus you don't have all the paperwork headache and you get Paid. Many times running under your own numbers you might have to wait weeks to be paid. So it's all relative.

    csmith1281 Thanks this.

I think anyone that does well at Landstar would have 0 problems with their own authority.

    Even with a trailer.
    71% of $ 1,000 is still less than 100% of $725.

So with your own numbers. That $1450 load is still better than the LS $2000 load.

And dealing with scumbag brokers is no different than dealing with scumbag agents.

Let's also not forget, we're talking the first 6 months, until you can get to a better brokerage house.

Then 100% of $2000 is still a lot more than 71% of $2000.

Good points Dave. And since we're only talking about the first 6 months, even if I made less than what I would make at LS or any other company leased to it would be worth it to get past that stage. Just like guys starting out leased on to a self dispatch company don't always do good for 3 to 6 months until they get things figured out.

I was calling around. And had a trailer set up to rent through McKinney. Was starting to get info on getting my numbers when Landstar finally said ok. The short haul money is great just for what's posted on the boards, and I have a very good idea what the freight is. And now, if you can't make it, you can always come back.

I've no reason to drive to Nova Scotia to make a dollar.

I've met 3 really good agents so far. One calls me direct, that's my load out of Phoenix 3 out 4 times.

This is the only place I've wanted to work. I had no doubt I could make it, and do well.
