I started on my 21st birthday. Ive been driving almost 2 years now. There are plenty of places that will take you. You have to decide whether you want reefer, dry van, flatbed, etc. I started with dry van and I've made good money so far. Get your foot in the door, keep your nose clean(no accidents, tickets, etc.) and prove you can do the job. Trucking is what you make of it. Get experience and keep your record clean and you can make very good money in this industry. Best of luck and most importantly stay safe

Schneider does a heart rate test, so be prepared for that. If you fail, they'll send you home.
It's a little late, but stair step excercise is best to prepare for that. If you're in reasonably good physical condition and don't smoke, you will be ok.
Which state do you live in?

Good location for tankers. Best wishes on your new career. If for some reason you don't make it through tanker school, think about a coast to coast reefer outfit or flatbed. Plenty hire 21 yr. old drivers.
I did reefers OTR most of my career and did ok and liked it. Also did tankers and went to tanker school in Holly Hill,South Carolina.

Driver don't let your nerves get the best of you.
You're never going to get rich as a truck driver but it is a way to make a living. You should be looking at this as an exciting Journey that you're on. There's a lot of responsibility with driving these trucks up and down the roads and delivering all the goods for the good old USA.

You'll have to spend a couple years at a big company and you'll probably have to spend the first couple of months anyways with a driver trainer until you can be signed off in your own truck but like another poster stated look at it as a license to learn.

Going to school was merely a beginning and everything else is a phase also. Just take things a day at a time and enjoy the journey and one day you'll be in a decent truck that you are in charge of and you will have figured out what direction you want to go.

Oh one more thing to remember: when you are assigned your own vehicle just remember that you are the one who is in charge behind that wheel.
Not the owner not the dispatcher or anyone else.
You are the one who is in charge and you are the one who will be charged with any accident that happens due to you being in a hurry or driving to satisfy dispatch when you should be parked and resting.

    Best wishes

Nice to see younger guys still wanting to drive trucks. I also started when I turned 21 but was fortunate enough that I started with a owner operator who had 4 trucks so I never had to work for a mega. just take it slow and pay attention you will do fine.
