I am trying to picture how a door handle got damaged. You weren't looking on both mirrors?

Don't do anything; even the police aren't interested and there's no damage. The guy took off because he's hiding something; you won't hear from him again. Forget about it!

Thought you said it was minor. In this case, just fess up to the company that you hit something. The other guy probably hit you anyway, that's why he left.

That's what I'm thinking and maybe didn't wanna risk getting fired.

If it is a company truck you are driving you need to report it to safety. Accidents happen the company isn't going to fire you over a backing accident in a parking lot. They would probably fire you for not reporting the accident and find out about it later. Depending on what company you work for it may or may not go on your DAC report The safety department has to put it on your DAC report. It will not go on your driving record since the police did not do an accident report.

I'm trying to get me head around this one.

You are backing in to a dock, sight side into the dock I am assuming because you said nothing about a blind side backing...
And when you were straightening out there was the trailer of another truck in your way, right next to your cab?

Two ways I could see that happening.
    1. There was another truck already there as you were backing in, and you thought you had room - but misjudged it.
    2. Someone backed up too close to you as you were backing.

Number 2 seems unlikely, because no one would be backing up in a straight line into you as you are backing in to a dock.
Unless they had the intention of causing an accident.

And I'm wondering if there were cameras at the dock that might reveal what actually happened.

You've been here long enough to know that every accident we read about on here is minor.

"I had a minor accident today. Tore the hood off of 3 trucks leaving the truck stop. Will I get fired?"

baha, Chinatown and ZVar Thank this.
