This should get you started....:
Mixer Drivers
If you have any specific questions come on back. -
Be careful, they're awfully tippy.
bottomdumpin and SHOJim Thank this. -
It's like driving a big truck with square wheels.
You will never have the same starting / ending time.
You will no longer be a professional truck driver. You will however be a professional truck washer.
I was one for 3 years. No one will count your time as tractor/trailer experience or OTR experience. So it's kind of a career decision.
I was a teamster. If you do it and have questions on slumps / etc. just give me a holler.bottomdumpin Thanks this. -
Don't forget crawling into the drum to chip out hardened concrete. That will make you wonder why you did this.

Anything that's been on "Dirty Jobs", no thank you. I think Mike Rowe almost died in one of those.

The mixer companies in our area usually have contractors do that miserable job now. It's a lot cheaper in the long run and the drivers sure don't mind.201 Thanks this.

How was your interview?

They don't pour much concrete in the rain either so hopefully you are in a dry area.I worked for a ready mix company for 3 years as a mechanic.I also drove a mixer and dumptruck as well as a loader to feed the plant with material when they needed me.The hit and miss hours would be tough on most guys unless you are top of the seniority list.
JReding Thanks this. -
Aren't the mix drivers required to use a jack hammer?
