I pick up a loaded trailer in Waukegan at 11am and take it to Grand Rapids 4 hrs, some days 5 or 6 due to traffic.

I camp the 76th st diner for 10 or 11 hours then slip back through Chicagoland in the early morning hours and camp at the shipper to the 11am. I'm on paper now and have not been inspected since starting this very well paying dedicated gig 2 months ago. It's 5 days a week and they have even given me a car to use for the trip to the house every weekend.

I have really never done splits before and not sure what I'm doing is even legal but I'm well rested doing it this way.

Can I continue like this on elogs?

The ELD will not let you "cheat" on your 14; from the time of your departure to Waukegan - to the arrival in Grand Rapids - all that must be done in the 14 hours window, including your move after you're done with the receiver in Grand Rapids, unless they let you stay there at the premises or you drop the trailer and camp then. If you manage it within 14 hours now, then ELDs won't matter to you.
