Technically the trainer could sit in the passenger seat 7 days a week 24 hours a day on line 4 and it's completely legal.RoadRooster Thanks this.

Swift has a "Friends and Family" training program. My first trainee when I became a trainer at Swift had just finished getting his CDL through the Swift Academy. When he got in my truck his wife started the Academy.
Once he finished training (200 hours behind the wheel) his wife was just about finished with school. I dropped him off at a terminal that has a two day orientation to qualify him to train his wife. He did a couple of solo loads to go pick her up and he trained her.
He had 10 years experience driving a straight truck, a solid driver that needed to get familiar with pulling and backing a trailer. She had NO experience at all.
They did really well as a team. Sold everything except what fit in the truck, paid off $65K credit card debt and paid cash for a house within three years.
The Friends and Family thing might not work if you are inseparable, but it would only be about a month separation doing it like they did. Another weakness is if neither of you have experience, then a rookie trains a rookie. Might be better for each of you to train separately and be able to compare notes afterwards.CorsairFanboy and Cerberus XVI Thank this. -
Alright guys we have an update:
After calling numerous recruiters we have decided we are going straight for CFI. After talking to the recruiter she answered all our questions, didn't rush us off the phone and walked us through step by step what we would be doing. Next step is applying and getting our CLPs and do physical before we go. Hopefully we'll be on our way within a month. I'll keep you guys updated. -
For your CLP, Google : Free CDL Practice Tests Texas
Memorize as much as you can. Will be easy since you will be studying together.
Cheap physicals at CVS Pharmacy and Kroger Little Clinic.
@crappiejunkie posted about Kroger Little Clinic; $88.00 for DOT physical. Google shows locations of Kroger Little Clinics. Maybe for CVS Pharmacy also.Last edited: Sep 30, 2017

Me and my wife are looking for the same thing, you would think that they would because they need truck drivers and we want to work together so they should teach you together, makes sense to me .

trust me I reach all companies and get the run around or the hurry up and get to school and wont answer all your questions but I found a company called CFI they will answer your questions the down side is yes 30 days away from each other and u have to get your permit and endorsements before school. U can bring pets if u want on your truck after training and upgrade to your own truck. They decent to good for teams at CFI and keep u moving if u need help finding team jobs let me know I got list and numbers that I called I can send u
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
