At our local Walmart they've gotten a new rule: no riding carts to be taken outside. So if you come in and need to ride, be sure to have someone to help you by bringing the car to the door, remove items from rider cart, put into regular cart and then take outside to the car.![]()

That is an OLD rule here...lol
About as old as our store is.
Actually this rule is not even the problem. This rule is understood.
It's there lack of riding carts all together. I've gone in with some handicapped adults and sat for hours for a cart. Then when we get one, it's doesn't have any charge left.
No extra batteries, etc............... -
This is due to poor management of that store. Of the three stores that I shop, we also have one that is run by an incompetent nincompoop. Guess you get them everywhere.
Cybergal Thanks this. -
Actually, I believe you are talking about Cedar City, up in Iron County. There is a WM there, and the KM did go out of business.
The DC is actually in Hurricane, and they will be opening a new store in Hurricane sometime after the first of the year. There is one store in Washington, and another in St. George.
When I talk about shopping at three WM I'm talking primarily the WM in Washington City. But I also shop at the St. George or Cedar City store, depending on what else I am getting and where I am.
As I live in Hurricane, I will be very happy to see that store open here. FWIW, our local supermarket is so afraid of WM (not) that they have remodeled. While they are not exactly a "mom and pop" they are a part of a very small chain and are serviced by Associated Food Stores. We also have a new Walgreens scheduled to open next month.
Since KM closed a whole bunch of stores, I'm not to concerned about WM having put them out of business. As I mentioned before, it was bad business decisions and poorly run stores that screwed up KM.
You are so right about that. And I think that is where a lot of this WM bashing is coming from. Sponsored and paid for by the unions. They HATE WM because the company refused to bend over and drop their drawers for them!
And I thank you for that, my friend!
What I have seen from these smaller businesses that "can't compete" with WM is enough to make a person sick. The grocer who steals from his store. Takes all the food to feed his family out the back door. Keeps track of it and takes it off the store's income tax, written up as "theft." This SOB actually was BRAGGING about it to me.
Small companies that have non existent employees or officers of their corporations. The guy whose kid is shown as a "vice president" with a six figure salary. Same kid is a stone cold drunk, and cannot function on his own.
The uncle who is in a rest home because he is completely disabled, but is paid in the six figures as a "consultant."
Then these same people claim financial hardship, and pay their employees minimum wage with no benefits.
Of course I know that all small business are not run this way. In fact, the vast majority of them are not. But the ones that are, are the ones who are also politically powerful on the local level and do their best to keep the big box stores out.
No, Wally World is not a bunch of saints. But they aren't a bunch of devils either. Although some individual store managers may actually be devils!

They are ... if you're Walmart.

The 'no rider cart outside the building' just started at our stores. Wonder why the guys that bring carts in don't get them back in asap? As for handicap parking, there are so many at our store that if they put more in the rest of us will be parking across the street. Not that I mind there being handicap parking but it's erksome when the whole year (except Christmas) nearly all of these places are empty.

I think handicapped parking is important. I think those carts are important. Go ahead and blast on me, but if the "medical condition" that requires you to use said cart is a lack of self control w/ pizza and cheeseburgers, you can stand to walk a while. Save those carts for people on oxygen and such, not just to help someone big get bigger. That to me is the most frustrating thing. I realize there are some bigger people who literally cannot help it (thyroid or something), but the majority just refused to get up from in front of the tv and move.
I wonder if Obama's universal health care will make a move to help these people. -
I too have seen some very overweight people on carts and wonder if they are on it because they are overweight or ill or overweight due to some illness/medication. I've rarely used a cart, only when I've been in a lot of pain with my legs when they swell up and I can't take my water pills right then. I'd spent my whole time in the store's bathroom LOL!
