Most are owner opetator china can answer better! But percentage is superior to mileage ! You can only run so many miles a week! But the number of loads you deliver is up to you and the HOS Rules!

I've never worked for percentage and don't have a list of companies that pay that way.

Your miles and your runs have exactly the same limits on them. Whether percentage or mileage is better is not so simple as you make it, and will depend on the company, the freight, the accessory pay that accompanies the mileage pay, if any, and the rates paid. Percentages can vary between companies, as well as the rates they run at, and what is deducted before your percentage is calculated. You can't simply look at a simple number or a method of payment, you have to look at the whole picture.

I read that SVTN went to percentage pay and has now switched back to milage + accessorial pays because the drivers weekly pay dropped so much.

I agtee that depends on company but if their hauling decent freight giving drivers decent rates because they want good drivers ! We pay 65% of net to drivers after fuel and tolls most of our freight is above 2.25 a mile some below ! But guys only do 3 loads a week average taje home 1600 afyer deductions ! Small company direct freight!

Depends on the type of running you're doing. Regional, percentage is probably the better paying option but revenue miles will probably be less. Coast to coast and long cross-country freight doesn't generally pay very well (per extrapolated mile) as shorter, regional freight, so mileage is probably going to be the best choice for consistency and predictability.

There's lots of variables to consider, and w-2 vs 1099 is another one to be wary of with some percentage outfits. A carrier will never make you take a mileage pay cut, but they are very likely to have to cut rates to remain competitive at some point. But then again, the reverse can be true to ... if they bother to tell you. Percentage is a more of a gamble +/-

Sure but it's entirely possible to just pay a really good CPM as well. I'm not saying you should do that or it's better, just saying that good pay can happen either way and crappy pay can happen either way.
