I am just starting out on my own just bought a truck/trlr and I have some questions: should I lease on with a company?
can I lease with more than one?
any other advice for a guy just getting out on his own would be great!

You bought a truck before you knew where you were going to put it to work?? More info is needed.. What type truck and trailer.. how old? What experiance do you have? Local of OTR?

yes what kind of set up do u have
most leases you sign to will prevent you from running any other freight bcaus of insurance and licensing but you can book the loads through the co you are leased to... -
Generaly you cannot lease to more than 1 company.. Though most leases have provisions for brokering loads if they cannot find you anything.. BUT, they often do not make it easy to do so.. My lease for example says I have to wait 48 hrs. and cannot turn down ANY freight during thatr time .. Then I can go outside the "system" and gert my own.. However, no cash advances will be given, no bill collections, and I have to pay a ?? cpm for using my co.'s authority. Ultimately they have the say of YES, or NO .. Some companies they will not allow me to broker to.. (I can "trip lease" but not many co.'s are doing that any more... that I know of..)
Good luck.. any more questions?? -
