I believe 2010 was the last model year for the FLD

Early 2000's Im inclined to agree with Seabee in the 2010 time frame.

Keep in mind the Century was out around 2001 for us which was a replacement or generation after the FLD series. (Actually there was a XL Classic in between during the mid to late 90's which was a pretty spacious truck...)

You will find that the FLD when taken care of adequately will keep on trucking for years to come. But they were prone to weaknesses and are not the best that trucking could offer when compared to say the KW2000 or some of the Petes and others.

The FLD was last produced in 2006, but a CLASSIC (which is a 120) and a CLASSIC XL (which is a 132) was last produced in 2010.

So technically, an FLD was last produced in 2006 that came with a 10 or 11 liter engine. Couldn't shove a S60 under a 112.

Hm, we had a 500 plus detroit in our 1993 to 1995 era FLD long hood. It did not seem to be a problem then. I am not sure what the displacement was or the exact series, but it is definately a big dawg detroit in my time. Fun fun fun. It happened to be one of two trucks I have ever had in trucking that I was able to either do very well and enjoy very much or put away a huge amount of miles that takes some effort to reconcile in the logbooks until I was busted by doing two oil changes every 30 days... in my FLD. In the century as a team we did a oil change every 20 days. Only took a few hours in the T/A...

The high point of the FLD in my life came when I purchased a 94' midroof FLD with a small cat something around 400 or so in it and a rockwell 9. I only had that tractor a week, not long enough to actually hook onto something to haul as a O/O (Long story....) but it was something I signed for and had the keys in hand etc and so forth. Ive always wondered looking back on it how many years I might have gotten out of it. (About 9 or so max... considering what was going on as they aged.)

Right...so the FLD long hood was a 120 and you could fit a S60 underneath.

Ty for the clarification. I knew there would be a problem with the shorter hoods which I did not have except one time with ATS trucking, that one was a little 350 cat which for it's time was a wonderful wonderful small block engine but somewhat weak when going up against my favorite big hills. But it did it's work well... just took time.

Yeah...not too often I see engines from team yellow. But the FLD was the trucker's truck! Good times..

Do you mean when did they discontinue the FLD with the setback axle? Like the FLD12064ST? Those were 2003, and replaced by the Century. Probably my favorite setback axle truck of all time, those FLDs are sharp looking trucks.

Dont the newer SD's (SD122 and SD132) still run the same, or slightly updated dashboard/sleepers???
