    That's right. It;s not.

You need about 30 hours or less to finish a 1500-2000 mile run segment and that's a team operation.

Home every night. HA... for hourly paid dump truck workers maybe...

    It wont matter.

I have done 130 plus over a full day and night. Literally the uptime is what gets you, not the speed. When you don't have sleep for long enough hours you are too tired and unsafe to continue. So much for home. Hotel time.

Even if I had that unlimited truck from LA to Jersey, the time of arrival will be less than a half day difference. Not meaningful to compenstate for the huge expense in fuel, potential ticketing and so on. In fact some states arrest automatically for 90 and beyond.

Dont take this the wrong way, but I hate when someone says this. I've seen more large carriers rolling down the road with lights out, flat tires, and fairings dangling in the wind than I care to think about. The small companies with ten or fifteen trucks? They depend on those trucks day in and day out. And in my experience, they're maintained much better than the large fleets. They may not all have shiny paint, satellite radio, DirecTV and some of the other gimmicks the big companies use, but they're safe and dependable

That also is my question. If it's a 1099 company, you are responsible for paying your own withholding taxes and supposed to file taxes quarterly, but some drivers still only file annually and don't seem to have any problems doing that.

I'm sorry, I was only joking. Not many if any rigs that can go 125mph.

I always here of those old trucks with 6x4 trans with A model cats and the right gears could run 130 mph. The fastest I have "allegedly" gone was in a newer model 550 cat with an 18 speed and 3.36 gears. It hit 107 easily but was computer limited.

If it is a 1099 job, then after you deduct taxes and self employment tax(SSA), your looking at probably .30/mi. Of course depending on how many dependants you file for.

Exactly right. We're a "small company" and we keep our trucks in good shape.
We operate in a limited area compared to the megas and the scale guys and creeper cops know our trucks. They know we make a real effort to keep things legal. We've passed our BIT inspections the last ten times in a row. It pays off in fewer scale and roadside inspections.
