Since it's a "walkaway" lease, then walk away. With a wife & child to care for, you can't afford to waste time. Several companies have guaranteed minimum weekly pay where you can make more, but not less. West Side Transport is one of them. Check their website.
Where is your location; the state you live in?
Be a company driver somewhere and join www.OOIDA.com to learn the business of owning your own truck in the future.

A fellow I know was on a company lease to own deal with Titanium in Ontario. After losing his butt, he turned the truck back in. Got a job driving for another carrier, says he makes way more money now and doesn’t have to pay for anything.

You're right, but that's for a company driver; lease drivers won't make anywhere near that much.

I'm saying. Turn the #### truck in and go back to being a company driver. Worst #### mistake I've ever made. They have systematically stolen any love I had for the road when I brought a truck on. It became a business and a job. Before I had to worry about expenses and how many miles I was running, what lane I was in, whether there's only heavy freight and mountains and snow in that lane... I loved every day out here. Now it feels quite literally like I work 5 out of every 7 days for free and then the last 2 days, I'm working to take home 66 percent of the gross for those 2 days.

God run as fast as possible from leasing.

Of course when you sign "their contract" they don't have any other loads for you.

You agreed to run for cheap CPM, absorb all the business expenses, and take all the risks in exchange for the title of " business owner. "

Any business is going to use that agreement that you signed to the maximum of their benefit, and chose loads that make more money for them. Those loads by nature, make less money for you.

It doesn't. Don't worry, I haven't read it but I am sure they didn't buy that truck and lease it to you, in order for you to compete with them for freight.

Everybody that leases says exactly that.

That is not research that is trucker BS. People get into the fleece to boost their ego; their not a mire "truck driver" they are a "business owner:" A cut above. Don't ever expect anyone so diluted to tell you the real truth.

Research is not buying into lunch counter BS;you need to understand the industry and calculate some hard numbers for any real research.

Man, you guys are brutal. It's like a gang beat-down in here.

I did an l/p and now own the truck. Still at the same company even. So, it can work at the right place.

Plan is another 6 months or so then should be able to step out on my own with comfort.
