So the SWRs got lower as you extended the antenna by the three to four more inches?

Its not just about swr, also resonance as per my analyzer but to answer the question..Yes..

    Thanks!

All I got is my $20 Workman and its lowly SWR sweep to tune an antenna and its coax. It seems to do a pretty good job.

However, I know it pales in effectiveness compared with the more sophisticated antenna analyzer with its R and X fields and the ability to find the holy grail of antenna users, the almighty resonance.

That's why I like to ask if the lowest SWR has achieved the best resonance, as confirmed by an analyzer. I understand that it generally does in a rough fashion, but the analyzer can squeeze out even more performance from the antenna if you had $150 to buy one or maybe $50 to get a tech to use his.

According to what i have been reading, never actually confirmed myself yes swr will be near your resonance point..
BUT..........it doesnt tell you resistance and impedence....If you find a tech that can set ya up do it...
In the middle of the cb band you want r @ 50(give or take a cpl points) and x @ 0(give or take a cpl points)
If thats set then i wouldnt worry about swr cause it should be near where you want it..
Anything below 1.6 your fine..used to have some charts on my pc but my power supply shorted out my hard drive and a few other things and i lost everything i had saved for reference material..

I bet you have seen how that anyenna sways a lil and also bends back a lil far at highway speed...Lean it about 30-45 deg tops and find about 3 ft of water pipe(pvc)..Keep inside diameter of pvc as close to outside diameter of antenna..It will help stabilize it some and not keep flexing the base of ant as much so you get a longer life from ant....
    ENJOY!!
