After 1yr OTR experience, how much should one expect to make at a local job? $15/hr at 55hours per week?

I'm making average of $815 per week OTR after taxes. It just seems like a local job could provide as much bacon with less hours put in.

About it, unless you own your own truck. Rates are the same as they were in the 80's... Driver pay has gone down when inflation is figured in.

I guess it depends on where in the country you live... I wouldn't drive a truck for $15/hr. In the Chicagoland area brining home around $1k a week after deductions is decent.

LTL companies start at a lot more than that.

dont count on overtime with local jobs.
Most won't give it unless its absolutely necessary.
It's cheaper to hire another driver then to pay you
Time and a half every week.

Whatever they pay you set your budget at 40 hours
Per week. Just consider the overtime extra money
And get while you can. It could go away at anytime
No matter whet they tell you.

15 bucks a hour is underclass pay unless your in a rural area. B's are worth a base of 16 to 18, and A's are worth 18+. Most rolloff drivers are 20+ and thats mostly B work. Ltl boys bust ### but get paid for it. And foodies make bank but get a real beating physically (imo)

I know a few guys running buckets, asphalt, construction stuff. Pay is from $20 to $30 an hour in the Detroit area, plenty of overtime, but turnover is extremely high. I run expedite auto parts as an O/O, I would never do this work for what the parts drivers are getting, around $16 - $18 an hour up here.

Varies with the area, the job you are doing, and most importantly the company you work for.

Construction related typically can pay a little better.
