    Then why are you required to list all of your citations every year and sign it?

    Dechkotzar-Dont sweat it-man.1-5 mph over warning n you say irresponsible driver.
    Heck- i found out my driver got something similar-i handed him a beer n said- 1 to 5 over?My trucks are better then that!

    But wanting to punish-thats not cool man.Like the drivers here said-start a operations manual n have your drivers sign it.You keep "punishing",your gonna find yourself w/out drivers-n-worse then that,youll be in the Report a Bad Boss forum.Thats worse then DAC!

    Operations manuals don't cut it for INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS. What many of you are missing and encouraging him to do only applies to EMPLOYEES. The minute you start telling a 1099 how to do their job, what tools to use etc etc you are changing the dynamic. The IRS can clear this up very simply. You're going to find yourself getting sued or the IRS is going to be all over your ###. If you don't like how a contractor is doing things then cancel the lease...period. Separate your BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP with them.

    I fired them. And then I had enough. I would have to go through ten drivers to find a keeper. O/Ops, that should not happen. I had one of our guys, O/O call me yesterday wanting to know if he should call in some trailer damage that he caused. I told him yes! The few times I have had issues with the company trailer, like that AH that puched a hole in my roof, I called it in. Or when a very high wind actually ripped the door off of my trailer, a brand new one, I called it in.

    The guys at our company, they do damage, and do not report, it comes out of their pay. They do not report a ticket or other infraction, we fire them. All O/Ops here, around 8-10 of us. Three of us have been here from the start, the rest come and go.

    I'm sorry but you don't know what you are talking about. Ask any Landstar guys, or even a reefer carrier I worked for that hired o/o's. There are rules and manuals and safety requirements. There are safety meetings that are mandatory to attend. The MC is not yours and what you do directly affects the company score when it comes to inspections etc. I know. I have an MC and ALL violations affect my score. The IRS and being an independent contractor have ZERO to do with safety and insurance. Want to argue on this? Cause a wreck with someone's MC on your door and get back to me.

    You think because Landstar (or anyone else is doing something) then it has to be legal? I suggest you look up what happened to FedEx recently concerning the matter. Also, while you're at it, read it directly from the IRS. Take your flimsy argument somewhere else because I never once mentioned safety. Learn how to read or work on your reading comprehension skills.

    @JimmyWells

    How would you handle it if you were looking at your own MC score one day and you had 35 extra points on there then your insurance company calls you and says "we need to talk about your rates"

    You start investigating and find a lease driver didn't tell you about some infraction?

    You state you want to have your own MC in the near future but can't seem to yet grasp what exactly that means.

    I guarantee you they would be gone in a blink if they tried to withhold information that effects me AND the other O/O's under my MC.

    People under my MC are relying on the carrier to manage the buissness they work with or for in the most efficient and profitable way. Having some clown screw up the CSA score and not doing anything about it is malpractice!!!

    A bad score can not only cost you higher rates or get dropped but can effect the loads and rates you can get too!
