Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I got a offer to drive a fuel truck for an excavation company yesterday, paying 14.00 per hr. I thought it did'nt sound half bad until the manager told me it would only be until the old driver comes back in three weeks. Oh well still looking.
Good Greek restraunt on the Manatee River called the Riverside Cafe... -
Bigarm, my hat is off to you and your wife for being willing to do what it takes. I just got my CDL this week in San Bernardino, CA. I moved here in Jan, not even considering trucking. Well after working 3 mo since Jan at a paltry $10 ph, and seeing a sign on a warehouse for drivers wanted, the light bulb from back in the 80's when I first wanted to go trucking, came back on. It's looking like I'm either going Swift or May. My dad lent me the money for the outside school and the co will reimburse it. If you can use a credit card, family member, I would look at going to an outside school.
I got lucky living where I am, Fontana is 40 mi away and it is the mecca of trucking down here in SoCal. My gf is ok with me initially being out on the road for training + I have about 10 years on the road from past telecom/oilfield careers, so I'm ok with it to..
Good luck! Here's a link to my schooling experiences: www.angelfire.com/tx/nale/trucking.html -
I'm also looking 4 a good truck driving school, I'm located in Philadelphia,pa.I have my eyes on Salomon, swift,Conway.Any suggestion out there ?

Hey guys I'm moving over to FL next year from England and I've already been offered a job (as long as i pass my cdl) with National Carriers from Kansas. They say they will have me home at least every 3 weeks and they have drivers living as far south as miami, i've heared some of there drivers do 3 weeks on 3 days off, 3 weeks on 1 week off. Don't know if this is of any help to you
-
Maybe next year but not now.I been looking for a company and no one is hiring in florida or only hiring north of tampa bay.Plus also I think theres more companies hiring in the north easterns states. -
Have you called National Carriers and asked, they have had new drivers in the last month from aboard and they are sorting the schooling out as well. Not sure if you pay for cdl yourself or not but maybe worth a phone call
