Well my husband just started driving a couple of weeks ago so we are just starting to collect the things that truck drivers need...i.e. CB, cooler, and other accessories. My first question is what are the things that are really needed? Second I have asked him to start thinking what he wants for christmas and he said that he would like things for his truck, like a tv or other things to keep him occupied while he is out on the road. So if anyone has any suggestions it would be much appriciated. And if anyone knows of places to get these things that would be great too. :)

    Thanks. :santa:

    A couple other things:

Cheap Blizzard Clothes - for chaining up or walking someplace for reasons unknown
Long Johns - That heater will make you sleepy while driving sometimes
1st Aid Kit - you'd be surprised at what you need when you don't have it or anyone else to depend on for it
Space Blanket - again unknown reasons... reflective for radar and shelter or warmth
Laptop - all in one for me TV, DVD, On-line finances, cheap communication etc.

There's a million other things you could probably use, right off the bat I'd go with Winter stuff right now. Temps are getting lower this weekend. I actually got out my insulated bed cover and wore a long sleeve T-shirt lol

I'm a hiker, and whenever I pack I always take at least 2 space blankets!
They are super-thin, only weigh a couple ounces and fit in a shirt pocket...

I remember reading about a guy who started getting frostbite while stuck on the side of a mountain.... he cut the space blanket in 2 and wrapped his feet in them as makeshift socks..... they saved his feet!

Get him a 12 volt cooler FIRST.

He'll thank you, and so will your bank account :D

A really nice "small" item my sister bought me last year. A sock "system". Wool outters, and silk inners. Words can not begin to describe the value of these socks in the winter.

I've never been one for "wanting" socks for Christmas. But I asked for a couple more pairs for this Christmas :D So did my wife, after wearing mine a couple of times. We both get cold feet really bad in winter...but not with these things :D

Everything already said and a decent gps. An entry level one can be gotten for about 140 now i believe and will get the job done.

A mini refrigerator costs less than $100 online at WalMart , will outlast 10 12 volt coolers and do a better job . Check with the carrier on installing an inverter though .

Make sure he has a good laminated trucker's atlas and a truck stop guide. Get yourself a copy of the truck stop guide too. There have been a few times when I have looked up truck stops for hubby because he was driving and needed to know what was close (usually in bad weather, or something came up).

A good blue tooth head set for the cell phone if he doesn't already have one.
