A small town just out of SLC, no such thing. The I-15 corridor from 75 miles north to 75 miles south of SLC is starting to look like one place. They just keep building more and more.

.030 thicker head gaskets could be he wanted a very specific cc for the combustion chamber. Or maybe wanted a little extra valve to piston clearance.

Went .030 over to hold the higher compression. Stock thickness would not hold up to 12.5:1. I can run pump gas in it, but it much prefers 108 octane. Lifted the heads today and sure enough, both gaskets were completely blown across all the cylinder seals. I straight edged the heads and the seem to be straight and flat, so I should be able to get away with a single surfacing pass...won't know about any cracks until I get them tore apart and.properly cleaned. Hoping I caught it quick enough to avoid all that headache. I do love aluminum heads, but they are absolutely allergic to getting hot.

It's amazing what you can get away with these days with all aluminum engines and heads. The new cars with direct injection gasoline engines run a very high C/R as there can't be any detonation. The reason for the economy gain.
