I also think people get too hung up on benefits. For example, it's like somebody would rather have a $15 per hr job with benefits rather than a $25 per hr job with no benefits. At the end of the day, all that matters is dollar value of your pay, if it comes from cash money or in some sort of benefit.

When you find yourself divorcing a sociopath, and you have $2500.00 per month psychiatric expenses to mitigate the psychological harm your ex is doing to your kids, you learn to appreciate those benefits really quick.

I'm not against paid vacations or other employee benefits, I just don't think the employer should be forced to pay it. If you can get it, great. If not, you have to decide if you want to work there or go somewhere else.

I'm just a free market person and I think the free market should decide.

Employers aren't forced to pay anything as long as there is a steady supply of folks with low expectations willing to take home 40% of their earnings after taxes and health care expenses.
