I went over my 14hr clock today in an effort to find a truck stop or rest area, the closest rest area was about an hour away and I only had 12 mins left on my 14 hrs clock. I have been running since 430am dropping off and load then I had to deadhead 320 miles to pick up a load that absolutely had to be picked up today. After I ran out of hours a keep driving and now my qc says HOS violation. What do I do in this situation?!

Large caliber pistol. Put end of barrel into pie hole. Pul trigger. You’re toast. Might as well get it over with.

    In other words...

Relax. Send a message with a explanation. (Not a excuse. ) and move on.

Send an email to your dispatcher or safety. Say your trip plan had you stopping at this truck stop and when you arrived there was no parking. So instead of parking on a shoulder of an on ramp and putting the public at risk. You decided to move on to the next best parking available 50 miles down the road. Make sure you take a full 10 hours break.

That stuff happens from time to time.
If your truck has the battery cutoff switch, you could cut the battery for a few minutes and let the Qualcomm reset, that should get rid of the warning message.
Then if you get a DOT Inspection this week odds are they won’t notice it.

You may want to call your log department in the morning and tell them what happened.

So they can "FIX" it... Let me keep my log book. Just think of the savings? No need for twenty guys in the back office fixing log books, there goes that Christmas bonus!

If its the first time probably a warning and if I was the log dept those excuses you gave wouldn't sell me.You need to trip plan and keep track of your hours thruout your shift. You need to start paying attention companies do fire for too many log book violations.
