Best thing to do is ask. Of course once you do ask, if the answer is no, expect them to watch your logs like a hawk.

    Your statement -

We'll i asked the trainer and he told me they no longer have pc or line 5 too many people abused it

It sounds like a general statement in regards to PC for anybody. You did not specify that your company no longer allows it. So, I took it as an open statement.

Company never had issue with it. DOT audited me a few times, never had an issue. So, I have no issues.

The ELD will trip onto line 3 upon the Mandate at <5mph.. if you are doing yard moves, then your company has to set you up for this.

    Special Driving Categories
Authorized Personal Use: A driver can record periods when using a vehicle for authorized personal use. This may include the time traveling between a driver’s home and terminal (or normal work reporting location), and traveling short distances (from terminals or motels) to restaurants. These periods of personal use may be considered off-duty time.

However, a driver who uses a vehicle for transportation home and is later dispatched from home would be on-duty from the time the driver leaves home.

An ELD does not change the duty status following a period of personal conveyance status. The driver should change the duty status to off-duty before powering off, or later annotate the record to explain off-duty status at the end of the driving time.

Yard Moves: A driver can record periods of yard moves.

Adverse Operations: A driver can annotate the record to document sudden bad weather, crashes, or other unforeseeable conditions.

Oilfield Operations: A driver can annotate the record to indicate oilfield operations.

well if you did get pulled up by the authorities they may ask why didn't you walk? However you may find if you are bob-tail your weight may be below what is considered a commercial driver, so you'd be ok to drive, check on what truck weights are to classify it as CDL. By the way you raise a very valid point when i think about it, i used to drive around bob- tail all the time when i was on my 34 hr break, seeing i had no car however i never ever got pulled up by police. If your Bob- tail are you required to go into a port of entry? If not i'd say you'd be ok to drive on your 34 hr break.

Stupid question guys but if the company doesn't allow personal driving then what would my options be for getting a refrigerator to the truck. Only thing I can think of is driving my personal vehicle loading the refrigerator into it and then driving back to the yard and truck

I have no issue with using off duty driving to drive around the lot looking for a trailer either.
