Dealer can't fix the Oil leak

Don't go back to that dealer. Really. The compressor is at the front of the engine and the rear main seal obviously at the rear. The leak must be jumping around.

 

What engine?

 

you need to get a good flash light and inspect oil leak area at night...

 

Wash it all then put a dye in the oil and you follow it with a black light. Can get it at Napa

 

You could have saved $7K by going to Blue Beacon, get an engine wash, then follow up with some brake cleaner, clean real good...and then locate the leak.

Oh, wait, you can still do it... and this time, you will know for sure where the leak is coming from.

 

I had same problem, it was the head gasket, oil leaking around the ledge and dropping here and there, clean head gasket area real well. You will find it.

 

Sounds like whom ever they employ as their mechanics isn't very good at fixing leaks it'd kind of be pretty obvious where the oil was coming from yet they've tried not once but 2 twice to fix this up at a cost of over $7000 looks like a real scam to me. although i guess you can still claim your expenses on your tax return.

 

on a frightshaker i once had (company truck) the oil was leaking from a crack in the oil pan. it was a "plastic" oil pan as i recall.

get the engine as clean as possible. yes, you can add a dye in the oil. yes you can use a blacklight to find it, AFTER a few miles or so to get that oil fully circulating and hot, to drip out of any area where there is the problem.

or you can simply wash the engine, top off the oil, set up a sheet of paper under the entire engine bay, run the engine till operating temps, then shut it down.

depending on the rate of the leak/drip, it can take some time, so do this when you are maybe on your reset?
