i talked to my boss, she doesnt really have anymore daytime work to offer me for this season, she said she will try to get me something next week..... but no fault of hers, the weather goes downhill next week rain almost everyday and lower temperatures. the only thing she has is i could get an enhanced license and haul construction debris from the peace bridge. those are the only two options being offered at my current job, either collect unemployment or do overnights. me and working overnight don't have a good history. one of my previous jobs was a raw milk receiver, overnights. i would get maybe 4 hours of sleep or less and work like a zombie, it was not a real safety sensitive job either. not compared to truck driving. i really dont want to drive overnights.
there is also a possibility of a local company hiring me for tractor trailer. would be daytime work, admittedly my experience driving tractor trailers is somewhat limited. its a walking floor trailer hauling wood chips.
right now im thinking about the tractor trailer job because its day driving.
talked to my boss, no more daytime work for me, i have 3 options

Thought of getting your hazmat?
That way you can get a job delivering residental propane/oil over the winter and construction during the summer.austinmike and EZ Money Thank this. -
i might look into that option as well. how difficult is it to obtain a hazmat
-
Hazmat is easy to obtain. Study the book, take a test and get fingerprinted and a background check.
Lepton1 and austinmike Thank this. -

Your in buffalo New York. There's got to 200 companies
Big and small delivering freight around town everyday.
Sign up for unemployment, then find one of those
Linehaul companies that will start you on the docks
At 18,19,20 bucks an hour.
Then work your way up to a 400 mile round trip load
That's home every night and you make 1200 a week
All year long, with benefits and insurance.Lepton1, Hotplate, lagbrosdetmi and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'd get the enhanced license and do the waste removal for the time being. I'm assuming that means your crossing the bridge into Canada? If so then you can say you have cross border experience also. If you really can't sleep then you can look around for another job.

Daytime work? ✓
Training for Tractor Trailer? ✓lagbrosdetmi Thanks this. -
the walking floor hauling wood chips is tractor trailer. i have driven tractor trailer but i admit my experience is limited. marquart farms would be a combination vehicle with something like a 48' walking floor trailer.
my only hesitation with it is that i have not driven tractor trailer since may. not saying i cant or wont do it. marquart would be percentage pay 21%.
dump trucks pay a living wage around here, but the work ENDS and that's the problem with it. -
Where is here? It doesn't say what your hiring area is. Whatever area it is, I'm pretty sure JB Hunt will hire you for something home daily.
