All my sympathy goes to the driver that was put into this no-win situation. Now he has to live with the fact that he played a role in someone's death, but he could have easily lost his own life trying to evade this person.

I cannot upvote this comment enough, I agree 100%. Commit suicide if you want but why risk the life of some other, innocent person? Or why give some other innocent motorist a king-sized guilt trip for something in which they share absolutely no blame?

It's also very telling that people will choose a semi over another type of vehicle to do this. It's as if people don't see that there are actual human beings behind the wheel; they just see this metal monster possessing no humanity whatsoever. On the best days people just see us as obstacles in their way.

Jumping in front of a semi or train is a really selfish way to end it IMHO.

Since an ambulance was called does this go on his DAC as a DOT accident? It’s a death. Yeah, non-preventable but still he has to explain it for the rest of his career.

The interstate was only closed for 30 minutes with a fatality?

Besides the torture of knowing a life was lost (and there wasn't anything that could have been done to avoid it)it would also go on the CSA of the driver, which is why the CSA should be drastically changed.

It has to be tough for the driver, 15-20 yrs ago I witnessed a fatality crash, and I still see the face of the deceased to this day, and I wasn't anything more than a wrong place/wrong time witness and attempted to render aid to the survivor...I can't imagine what the driver is going to be going thru for a very long time.

Man, that is really upsetting. Not just for the family of the young man who took his own life, but for the truck driver who struck him. He’s got a rough road ahead.

I really wish these men and women with these demons in their heads would get the help they need. Or if you absolutely, truly believe that offing yourself is really the only option, think about who you’re affecting. It’s really not fair to turn an innocent person into a basket case just so you can put yourself out of your misery.

“He was suffering from some mental issues like schizophrenia, depression, along those lines,” said Wyoming Highway Patrol Lt. Matt Arnell.

    End quote.

Ive hit and taken out large dogs, small deer and other animals in my time with a semi, not by choice except one time. US 15 north of Harrisburg in the early pre-sunrise morning fog that is thick to where you cannot see your drives in the mirrors... it's bad. THUMP!! see 4 paws and legs fly past the pax side window on the way to land in some one's front yard. When you are rolling 70 plus you aint see nothing in time to do anything.

When 100 trucks are nose to tail at 80+ back in the day of single lane travel... northbound... Taint no one going to do any horsing or dramatic action because we all would be wrecked and probably haz mat plural in the mix too.

I know that part of wyoming and it breaks my heart that someone chose to allow a semi to take him out like that. I cannot imagine the pain that person must have been feeling to think that he is better off somehow dead. Considering my own challenges, I think there was or is a complete and total failure of the medical system to help him find calm and peace in daily living or perhaps the will of the family not to allow him to have some of the good meds that gives peace in times of mental health trouble.

I can think of a thousand cleaner ways to suicide without involving other people publicly. My prayers go out to the driver who was placed in the no win scenario and all the other cars and pickups around him who had no choice other than to be present with such a messy.

Article stated he Broke free from his mother. To me that is a tell. I think to leave off any further thinking until a few days hence when more of the story comes out.
