I had my CDL since December it has automatic truck restriction on it. I got it thru Coke so I wasn't "properly trained". But the past few months I've been doing local in town delivery (not with Coke they're terrible) it's ok but I feel like there's more out there... Or is OTR the only option?

An auto restricted license is not a otr only sentence. If you want local there are other options. What do you want to do?

    DonPigeon86 and G13Tomcat Thank this.

That's another thing I would like to get the restriction off my license if it hinders me.. I like driving, being home every night right now is not that important so I'm not limiting myself to local. If I don't have to, auto transport looks interesting to me and tankers

I'm recently OTR and I want to go local my home is Biloxi, MS. I'm going Monday to get my hazmat, doubles, and triples endorsement but I only have about five months OTR experience.

You'll have to retest at the DMV in a stick shift to get the restriction removed.
Also, you can hire on with a company that uses automatics. Many companies have a mix of stick shifts and automatics.
Here's a few you can call and ask if they can use you with the automatic restriction and also ask if they can help you learn the stick shift if necessary.
    These hire South Carolina drivers:
    Palmetto State Transportation - Greenville,SC
    Senn Freight Lines - Newberry,SC
    G&P Trucking - Columbia & Gaston,SC
    Southeastern Freight Lines - Columbia,SC
Veriha Trucking - hires SC drivers
    Hadden House - Richburg,SC
Try these and in the meantime, we'll try to think of some more ideas.

CTL Transportation (tankers) , I think uses automatics and so does CT Transportation (flatbed).
    Call these:
    National Carriers
    Online Transport - 60 CPM
    Stevens Transport (www.stevenstransport.com)
Tyson Foods - think they use automatics. Probably make about $60K.
East-West Inc. (www.goeastwestinc.com) - Swannanoa,NC - has their own cdl training program, so probably can help get that restriction lifted. I think you do about 10 California runs with a trainer.

UPS Freight Truckload (apply online) is hiring individuals to work as Full-time OTR Drivers. This position involves the driving of a tractor-trailer for the over-the-road delivery of freight to two or more locations. OTR drivers may take a load from any of our shippers, and deliver North and South east, and as far west as Waterloo, IA. These drivers are typically on the road 7-10 days at a time and normally pull 53’ van trailers.
OTR Drivers must pass a DOT physical and successfully pass a UPS Freight road test. Qualified applicants must have a valid Class A Commercial Drivers’ License with Haz-Mat endorsement. OTR Drivers are expected to comply with all appearance standards.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
