Back on the road. Lease purchase with JB Hunt

A few aggravations at the beginning. I and one other driver were the first to get in on this deal so it was brand new and they were working out the kinks. Prior to picking up my truck in Wilmer TX everyone thought orientation would take place at Dallas oc. Nope. Too logical. Must bobtail to Laurel Arkansas. they will pay empty mile pay to do it. But wait! Need insurance and fuel first. After much negotiation BCL agreed to foot temporary insurance and 40 gal fuel. Obstacle overcome. Okay I said so I don't want to pick up on Thursday and waste money on an extra day. Being very frugal you know..but I still wanted first dibs on best truck offered. BCL guy promised to reserve best for me since I was first customer. Everyone here who believes he did that speak up......crickets chirping....
When I got there there were only 2 left on the lot (there are more to come next week). But i think I lucked out. Of the 2 one looked pretty inside the other a few cosmetic things questionable. But the needed fixes on not so pretty had been about cutting out evil Onguard and a minor adjustment. The other had to have a crossbeam replaced. Wonder how that happened.
As a female the choice boiled down to intuition for me so I consulted my daughter who is my go to bottom line consultant. She looked them over and announced..truck that looks prettier was driven by an amateur. Truck 2 by a driver like her guy, Will ...he doesn't care about pretty. He wants function. Takes care of what matters. I took her advice. Onguard still "talks" but doesn't brake for dead squirrels and that governor is set up to 72. Go Will.

 

Yeah...heavy sigh...on the other hand it appears that onguard and I agree on following distance anyway. But I still jump when it beeps. Gotta get used to that.

 

You mean lease payment? Yes I agree ouch. Thought it over very carefully. Did lots of math. Also unless willing to invest in older truck (and possess the means to fix more things with your own two hands) it's inside the average lease payment. Upside it's 100% tax deductable.

 

Thank you. Needed the lift. It's orientation time and that's boring to everyone unless your in it. The hotel accommodations are very nice and I lucked out. Only female so I don't have to share my room. So far no surprises except I'm trying not to come down with a cold. I want to hit the ground running when they turn me loose Friday.
