So I'm looking for ideas I guess. I've had my CDL class A since December auto restriction on it I'm located in Columbia SC. I started out working for Coca-Cola that didn't last long now I'm with Southern Wine (box truck). The pay is not the best (600-750)but it's ok for the work, 4 days on maybe 10hr days and off every weekend. Is there more money in the Food delivery Sysco US Foods Golden State food etc (all located here)? Or is LTL and P&D better? South eastern Old Dominion UPS Freight and a few others also located here
What to do

You can do much better with Sysco or US Foods. The hours will be very long each day(14-16hrs) with lots of manual labor unloading cases.
I worked for Sysco Atl for 15yrs and averaged $1800 a week before taxes. I also worked for US Foods Charlotte for 5yrs and averaged $1350 a week before taxes.
At Sysco I was a delivery driver. Worked as a relay driver at US Foods. -
Why didn t you make it at coca cola? I was out of the Sylmar ca branch for 11 yrs. Ended up getting termimated or i would still be there

The money wasn't good for what you have to put up with 12hr+ days then they always want you to work on your scheduled days off and the management is terrible...I wanted to switch from c-store delivery to bulk and they wouldn't let me...a normal 4 day week $600- $640 and merchandising 700+ cases a day

Did you not start this post yesterday on other sections?

Yea but it was suggested to place it here in this section

Sysco will BURY you in boxes to move by hand.
God knows there are certain syscos I will deliver to even today at a moment's notice... Pokomoke City MD comes to mind... they are #### good. But.. you will be unloading and loading boxes of heavy stuff until your spine fails sometime in your future as mine did. -
We were a union shop. So I didn t merchandise any stores. Just deliver and put in cooler or by display for merchandisers to come in. Bulk was decided by seniority and I still wasnt' on it full time. 24/hr was my pay in 2011. Good luck on wherever you go

Several carriers have terminals in Columbia.
We all have our different preferences on this. I do freight, because IMHO food service is a young man's game.Texas_hwy_287 and Lotus Thank this.
