What gets me is. A company. Wants you out for 10 to 14 days but your not guaranteed to make a good wage.if I'm giving the Company. my time thay should make sure the driver get a steady pay ever week he or she is out. A good Truck. Steady pay and home time.and respect is what it takes to keep a driver

You can if you work for the right company. Some companies have a guaranteed minimum weekly paycheck; plus you can make more, but not less.
    K&B Transportation
    West Side Transport
several others, but I can't remember the names.

Some drivers want to change the laws because they are too lazy to do a job search & be picky. "All companies are alike. They're a dime a dozen". smh

Overtime pay just changes what problems you have, not that you have problems. Companies will simply increase pressure on drivers, not customers, to get finished before OT kicks in.

Same here but i grew up riding in the jump seat with the old man. Pretty much thrown to the wolves at my 1st company doing food service. Trainer only had 6 months exp. Typical new breed left lane riding 62mph door slammer. Nyc 48th & 6th av to jfk airport during mid morning rush with a 13'2 48ft condo. Trainer thought i was bs'ing when i told him i had less than 200 mi under my belt after. No it just comes natural to me. I suck at plenty of other things tho

You wanna get paid like the cream of the crop than you better have the ability to back it up. Sorry but your average door slammer isnt ever gonna make what we make in the oilfield or food service/LTL. I knew that before getting my permit. To get that dough you have to be better than average. (Its not that hard c'mon look what we call avg nowadays)

I get that. We certainly have our share of lazy,
    non-working low bridge specialists.

To be fair though, I can’t in good conscience deny someone the opportunity to better themselves. Everyone deserves at least a chance provided they meet the hiring qualifications.

Rules must be enforced consistently though. If it’s obvious they can’t cut it they need to be shown the door, and not expect the good drivers to pick up their slack.

Yea i agree on that. Everyone needs a chance to prove themselves. As a whole each generation is getting lazier and more incompetent than the last. If i had a new helper with me i knew by the end of the 3rd or 4th stop if hes was gonna show up for work the next day
