Should I go ahead and start reaching out to companies or should I wait until after I am 21? I plan on reaching out to Schneider and also can't afford trucking school either so I heard that if I got on with Schneider they would cover the tuition but I would have to stay on with them for a year.I dont know if all of this is true.Any advice?

Yes, it's true about Schneider. There are quite a few companies who will cover the cost of CDL school.
Have you thought about applying for a Federal Grant? Go to your unemployment office and ask. It will free you up. Also show initiative ahead of the job.
Get all the endorsements you can.
Lately, the gossip on Schneider is they have gotten into micromanaging. You might not like it. I also realize that Schneider has much local/Regional work. Where many of the others who cover training, don't.
There are many companies. Where are you at? What do you want to drive?

Prime is the number one company who trains. For many reasons this is so. You can get your CDL with them. They are more than fair. They have plenty of women who train. I don't think it will be a problem finding a woman to train you. With a name like Tristen, I take it you're female?
Jim Palmer/Wil Trans, is really good. They'll do the same. Not sure about abundance of women who train. You would probably go to Wil Trans in Missouri. Because that's closest to you.

Also...bear in mind. I'm sure Schneider has much local/regional around Louisiana. If you find you're not crazy about OTR. Easy to switch. You have to consider the micromanaging. They even give you boots you have to wear. Pretty anal. They also have a no pet policy.

Also.... Prime or Wil Trans.... They might bring you in now. Knowing you won't actually test for your A until you're 21? I don't know for sure. I do know they have that much common horse sense. They're constantly on the lookout for good people. With Prime, the recruiter makes a difference... talk to;Nikki Yost 417-521-3598... You might also watch Junior Honduras' youtube videos... put him down for a referral on app... kinda locks you into Nikki... she's really good.
EDIT AGAIN: You can see Nikki in one of Junior's videos. He has one with Nikki and (what I understand to be) head of recruiting.

Even some of the LTL companies will hire a recent grad. Try yrc, abf, old dominion, saia, estes, usf and so on.

Don't be intimidated being a female in this industry. One of my co workers in the oilfield is and she don't take no #### from anyone and the company we have a contract with has a female supervisor.

Local is where the $$$ is

Here's some companies that hire at 21 yrs. old and have their own cdl school:
    Contract Freighters Inc. (www.cfidrive.com)
    Carter Express
    FFE (Frozen Food Express)
    Roehl Transport
    Jim Palmer Trucking
All these companies provide meals & lodging while attending their school.

So should I just wait until I turn 21 in January or can I start reaching out to these companies?

Try to set up a class date now. Some may go ahead and schedule you for a start date. This won't obligate you, but does give you some room to plan.
