How is this going to affect drivers that haul sand and cement for Frac sites? I know sometimes a driver can sit on a load for 8 or more hours because of well problems. Are the exemptions for drivers hauling sand? If not its really going to affect how many loads a person can get.

No it won't. If you were running legal, that is.

Line 5 oilfield exemption buys you some time while on location, "waiting" and/or on "standby".

If you are running legal then nothing changes exept the way it's recorded. Could show a violation on screen, but as long as you are legal as per oil field exemptions you are good.

If you are not running legal, well you are the reason we have the eld mandate.

    peterd and dngrous_dime Thank this.

From what I have read and had answered questions from FMCSA Southern Director you are not able to use oil field exemption.

And if you get no exemptions then everyone will find other work when frac sand doesn't pay well enough to put up with the hassles. After that happens the frac sand companies will have to raise pay to get people to come back and then you'll be working less loads for more money.

No exemption for hauling sand already got that ticket.
    No I don't run legal.
I will not stage on a well for 4-7 hours running out my clock then sit for another 8 hours when I've already napped for all I want then wait for my turn to unload.

When using the exemption or running Texas logs you can be profitable and efficient. Standard HOS are a joke in the oil field and ill just keep my one newer truck in Texas untill 2019 then sell it if nothing's been changed.
