Say I believe a person of your age can collect SS and work as much as you want and not have the SS benefit reduced at all.

I'm with @"semi" retired on this. I love being retired. Being an owner operator we take great pride in how we deal unknowns and problems that always show up.

I loved being an owner operator for over 30 years but I had no idea of the toll all those years of stress was taking on my body, until after I sold out and learned that I could relax. Going to bed with zero worries is priceless!

To each his own. Old guys that want to keep on trucking, that's great, more power to you.

    DLW0928 and 201 Thank this.

You are not an "Owner/Operator" as long as you rely on your company for ANYTHING.

    Time to retire.

I would suggest going back as a company driver, if you need extra income.

$28000 a year for insurance. 20 years old. I don't think I can make it off load boards just staying in kentucky!

You are being ripped off. Our operation ran in state only (illinois) running an end dump, 21 yo driver with less than one year of exp. Ran $12K per year. We used rigquote, who linked us up with Berkshire Hathaway Homestead. Owner op with standard coverages and new authority..

Yup. Rigquote dude himself did not believe this statement.

His position was it varies on almost 1 million things.... and Berkshire is always higher than Progressive 99% of the time.

This year makes 30 years I started driving commercially. Perfect driving record, perfect credit score, no tickets / points. With progressive I'm paying less than $9K year for everything. I'm 100 O/O doing my own thing. Might give it a try, I'm sure it will be higher but.... Nothing ventured nothing gained. Best of luck to you.

Better question .......Your 72, Still want to work obviously,Have no problem with that at all,(Better than dying in front of a television).......Why Trucking? I'll be 50 soon and I'm about done- At 50 I'll have 29 years on the street.

Your 72- Which means if you worked from the age of 18,paying your taxes, You have over 50 years of social security- Which should put you around $2400 per month Less Medicare.....Can you Live off that? Some can- But you seem like you want to continue working,Which is fine, Find something a touch easier than the stresses of a truck these days- Not worth it in my eyes on friendly advice.

Maybe a 20-30 hour a week part time job to add to your income- And if you have a Pension or 401k from previous employers..Even Better..

Best of luck to whatever fits you the best!!!!
