Is this the right place to post an error my RM740 keeps having on "lane assitance"? If so, someone tell me the better place to post these, please. 2 different exits I routinely use are consistently generating the wrong "keep left/right" suggestion.

    1. In TN, I-40 WB near Memphis approaching I-40/I-240 exit 10A-B. Lane suggestion is always incorrectly stated as "In X distance keep LEFT for I-40 West. The correct direction is to keep RIGHT for I-40 EB or WB and then keep RIGHT for I-40 WB Little Rock (which is I-240).

    2. In KY, I-69 NB (Little Valley, KY?) approaching Western Kentucky Parkway EB, RM740 gives incorrect Lane Guidance to keep LEFT in X distance for Western Kentucky Pkwy. It should suggest keep RIGHT for the WK Pkwy.

In each instance the GPS is showing the correct Highway and direction, I-40 West for example, but giving wrong lane guidance.

I was gifted a hand-me-down tnd 730. The thing worked beautifully for a couple weeks and started restarting on its own. It started out doing it very rarely and increasingly got worse to where it was unusable. I've read a few statements from Mark regarding power and things. One of which is that if there was an external sd card in it to remove, so I did. The power cable I was given says it's only rated at 5dc 2a which would leave me to believe that is the problem. I'm unaware if this is the cord the unit came with as I did not buy it. But it says on the sticker 5inch and 7inch which sounds like it is. Did they update the power cord or do I have the wrong one? If I do where might I get the updated/correct one?

If you are home j can remote into it and clean it up for you to get it back to factory condition. As far as restarting all the time it could be power. How do you have it plugged in. What dc outlet?

    Thanks mark

I'm not currently at home. I have had it plugged into one of the outlets on the dash. They both day they are rated for 12v 10a. I switched outlets and it seems to actually be charging now. Before if I unplugged it it was always dead. Now the battery meter is going up every time I unplug it the meter is going up. I just recently took the sd card the previous owner has in it. Might be a stupid question but would that have anything to do with it? Or is one of these outlets going out? Its hard to say on my end because I took the sd card out and plugged it into the other outlet and now it seems to be working.

SD Card has nothing to do with power, but the SD Card can interfere with the operation of the TND. Make sure the DC end of the USB is snug in the charging port. You can take a cable tie and slide between the socket and the plug to make it more snug.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I will have to try that. I mean it seems secure. Even if I wiggle it it doesn't make the light flicker or anything. But now that I've had it plugged into the other socket it fully charged and the green light on the GPS is on. Normally it never did that even with the unit turned off.

My wife and I have been using the 730 model since they came out and have had very few problems with them. However they do need to be updated and cleaned up,we do that at least once a month by using the Dock software as files do get corrupted and intermittent power spikes can play havoc with the databases. It is also a good idea when u have it hooked up to the pc to visually check db's for corruption or let Mark remote into your pc to clean up the files.Check Post #3138 for more info on this procedure.Even if the plug seems secure, the constant vibration of the truck can loose intermittent contact so it's a good idea to make it good and tight,we use the tines from plastic forks and push them in alongside of the plug and works pretty well and u can get them at any truck stop for free.
    Hope this helps.

I kind of thought about needing to clean it up. I'm definitely going to have to do that on my next home time. I appreciate the fork idea. I had shoved a folded piece of my cigarette pack in there and it seems to be okay but a hard plastic would be better. Thanks for all the insight I do appreciate it. I was starting to worry because I've seen some bad things about RM but it seems like no one will give finding the problem a chance. Its just weird because my phone charges just fine on either socket but my GPS doesn't seem to. Obviously they charge at different amperages so that might be the cause.
