I've only had 2 recruiters lie to me, pgt, and Eagle logistics, the others were strait up honest and I was never able to find anything where they lied

Yes ANY Dollar type store, whether its 99 cents, $2, or anything vaguely similar. They have the same features, very small stores, no loading dock or room for a truck, customers parked in that limited space, and employees like Shaniqua, LaShondra that are supposed to help unload but haven't touched freight or put their phone down since they last left county lockup. ANYONE delivering to these stores will eventually back into something. You are then at the mercy of the trucking company and toxic to any other trucking company.

NEWBIES THINK THIS IS A DRAMATIC FANTASY, IGNORE THE ADVICE, THEN LEAVE THE INDUSTRY OR WORK AT SH#TTY COMPANIES FOR LOW PAY. It's your life, make decisions like the outcome is important. I'm sure some reading this have already found an excuse why their offer is different. It's not. AVOID DOLLAR STORE ACCOUNTS is the only universal advice in trucking I support. Werner has some happy drivers & I wouldn't warn all away from them. My past company also pulled dedicated Dollar General account. It's a disaster for 99% of new drivers. Experienced drivers can make it work, but those are as rare as Bigfoot sightings.

BTW, any recruitervtelling you their OTR division is full, you should do Dollar account until an OTR space opens up is a 100% liar. Nobody's OTR division is ever full. The lie is an excuse to push reluctant newbies into their worst performing division.

Don't wait for recruiters to find you. You track down companies to work for, ask them questions.

All trucking companies are the same.
Pick one that runs good lanes and gets you home.
I love running the southwest..love the desert scenery..all year long.
Took a pay cut to run this lane.

I finished school last month went to AIT in Phoenix my advice is same as everyone else do your research find what best suits your needs. do you need tuition reimbursement if you do then your in a contract with a company. how often do you want to be home were do you want to run can you take your truck home things like that.
I had several offers narrowed my search to 2 companies CFI and Navajo Express by the time I graduated those were my preferences that would hire out of my area. I decided CFI cause they offered me .40 a mile due to my military driving exp otr home 2 days every 3 to 4 weeks set up orientation called Navajo to let them know and they upped my starting to .38 a mile doing a dedicated home every 2 weeks and going by my house once to twice a week able to stop in and take my 10 at home so I called CFI told them sorry but Navajo run fit me better the recruiter understood said if things didn't work out call and she hook me back up.
basically once you have that cdl you are a commodity they want you I stayed away from wearner cause I didn't want to unload it all comes down to what fits you good luck do your research if you think you find a company you like go by a truck stop talk to their drivers.

True story. I went to to trucking school at the hight of the recession, like 2008. We, the whole class, used to call the Swift recruiter everyday. At this time Swift was gong from their prior 130% turnover, to calls from newbies all day long. I guess the change of pace really hit this guy. He went from begging a driver to get in a Swift truck, to too many applications to deal with.

This guy couldn't take it and would hide out in the office and try to get some else to take the phone calls. You could here him in the background on speaker phone. The instructor would call for us too. Listening to this guy squirm and make excuses was half the fun.

Anyway, this guy never did show up to our community college like he promised even though we were just a hours drive away. He ducked and hid from every phone call. It was just pure amusement calling him everyday. It was like a prank caller he could never get away from.

He resigned before I got there so I never did meet him in person. And he never called any one of us or the instructors back.

The point is, these recruiters only call when they need you. When they need you to fill their quota for next weeks orientation. Before that you are nobody. If they can fill their quota with ready to go prospects, don't expect them to call.
