I've got a 5 year old Volvo with a million miles on it. It rides ten times better than the freightliners, macks and KW I test drove. Knock on wood; the only problem I've had was a quick $1500 fix.

Owner operators I know with Petes are in the shop 2-5 days/ month.

Those who own Volvos can pick up pretty women easily. Those who don't... not so much.

I just got a quote for a Kenworth 680 with some additional goodies (electric APU, lockers, etc), all the HP Cummins will sell, and all the extended warranties she'd hold. $172 K.

I thought THAT was a stupid amount of money.....

    ^This guy

Any brand of truck can break down for a variety of reasons, these days it's mostly emissions related issues........but keep on drinking that Kool-Aid.

That's literally just a spec sheet. He's not jerking you around. Unless he said that is the actual quote. I would laugh and leave. With regards to everyones opinion on the petes and hood KW's, only cowboys who make bad business decisions would spend that kind of money on a used truck with no warranty to just look cool. I think all the manufactures are building really good trucks with a lot of driver comforts that didn't even exist in trucks five years ago. Work smarter not harder....

Midnight, get your financing straight, get a third party lender approval and have cash on hand for a down payment THEN go shopping. Don't mention financing until you hand them a spec for what you want and they give you a price, then start bargaining with them. If they can beat your third party lender, go for it with the dealer which they most likely will.

Can you name a few good third-party lender’s?
We have accounts in three different banks so we will start there.

Wells Fargo, BMO. Nextran Orlando has some new Volvo’s in stock. Not sure if they are 7 or 860’s, but they’re white.

Start with your bank, you have an established relationship with them, even if you don't use them, get approved so you not walking into the place without something to back your purchase.

I like the new Volvo, I like the way a 780 rides I'll guess the new 860 or w/e it's called will be similar. To me it's much more smooth when running over the bomb cratered roads in...well everywhere. I will wait a few years before getting one because the first few years of any new vehicle tends to have all kind of issues which should have never been allowed off the factory floor.
To that end - I'm split on an Argosy glider or a def/scr truck.
