Yeah i understand your reasoning there ! Public safety is very important would this not fall back on the company to ascertain what their driving abilities are? e.g does he know how to use low gear down a step grade or does he just use the brakes? how fast does he go around corners?x1Heavy Thanks this.

I agree.
@Dye Guardian is just 22. Helluva driver. If I needed a tanker full of jet fuel pulled, and it absolutely needed it to be there, I would not hesitate to give him the load. Young Man, but he can do anything behind the wheel that you would need done. I would bet the house on him.Dye Guardian, Chinatown and Zeviander Thank this. -

Hard to say, I did it in North Dakota oil field and I rocked it. Driving a truck period has way more to do with attention to details more than anything else. If you find a person with lots of common sense your doing alright. Generally speaking though most company's won't even touch you for hazmat with out at least 1 year tanker exp.

Years experience means very little, especially if someone has been running a pin-to-pin operation that entire time. New drivers are easily moldable and trainable. The saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" applies very heavily to truck drivers. Usually the more experience they have, the more they tend to think they know everything.

You can teach anyone to haul fuel. It’s not rocket science.

True! I remember one new driver on here said his uncle drives trucks and the uncle told him he should get at least 10 years driving experience before pulling tankers. Where so people come up with all this foolish information?Rugerfan Thanks this.

The way I see it, if I’m brand new and a guy teaches me the correct way to drive a 10 axle setup then I don’t need years of experienceChinatown Thanks this.
