Then they will find something else to regulate more quickly. They will anyway of course, can't be a "lawmaker" if your not making laws.

Already have a bill ready to pass on proper GPS use and set up. You'll also have to carry a card showing you passed the course.

I wouldnt say they are treating it as TOTALLY weight related. But , excess weight can be an indicator to having this condition. They ask these questions because fatigue is a big problem in this business. In my opinion , there should be sleep study centers accredited by the Gov that in no way have an financial incentive to have a driver get a cpap. Strictly on the necessity of needing one due to actually having this condition. Borderline could be addressed as a seperate issue. Like with some weight loss or other monitoring then retesting.
I had a study done before I even got my cdl. I have this condition. Not weight related although soem weight gain has made it a bt worse. Nothing an increase in air pressure cant help. -
First i will start by saying sorry if i get harsh to you in this reply, sleep apnea is a real condition, the trucking industry is policeing it self it seems before there is a law which will happen some day, they have to start somewhere, so why do you feel that there has to be a law to get something done out here, so here comes the so called harshness, from the way i am reading your reply, you seem to be the type of clown that needs a law to justify why companies or people can do anything out here... That's why they put up the "WALK" "DON'T WALK" signs back in the 60's, people cannot figure out when it's safe to cross a intersection,i need a law to tell me when to cross, so they made a law and put up signs and then the people justified it and said it was good...man o man....catch my drift? You need to be proactive instead of reactive.....

You sound like my twin. I'm 53 yrs old, 5'7' and was 370lbs back in Jan 2013. I'm 285lbs today and getting smaller. I as well have to use a machine. Im at a pressure of 19 on a VPAP machine. Yeah, it was a pain in the butt for a few days but I wouldn't be able to sleep now without it. I #####ed and moaned when DOT Dr. said to get the test. But Im happy I did, they say I stopped breathing 97 times in one hour. Now I sleep like a baby, where before I might get 2-3hrs a night if I was lucky. I sleep on my back now and no longer get up 4 times a night to pee. Deep sleep I guess. I'm not real happy that it's costed me over 2 grand out of pocket to get DOT Dr. to give me the 1 yr med card, but I am happy Im sleeping. I've been on it just over a month. I guess I was lucky, I got used to it in just over a week. My toughest part getting used to it was I would freak out with the mask over my face and rip it off. Finally I just calmed myself and told my self to "just breath normal" and next thing I new I was asleep. I truly hadn't slept 8+hrs in years. All I can say to these guys is to get used to it. Your no good to anyone dead. -
I have been using mine since the spring of 2011. Never used the mask. I use the ResMed head gear with the nose pillow. I can sleep on either side because of the swivel joints on the thing. The machine is on my right side of the bed and when I want to sleep on my left side I must be flipping the hose over my head when I am sleeping because that is where I find it in the morning.

I could never sleep through the night without it now. -

I received a letter today from a business representing Averitt. Seems tha there was a lawsuit against Averitt claiming discrimination because of the sleep apnea and sleep studies. I drove for Averitt and was required to wear cap after "failing" sleep study.
Evidently that is in violation of a federal law so those drivers that went through the process will be compensated to the tune of 500.00 -
To the OP, it may be a mask issue. If he’s not a mouth breather, try the nasal only mask. Full masks are very hard to get use to. Machine makes a difference too. I use a resmed 10, and it has variable pressure so when you exhale, the pressure drops right off. You also get a daily report on your phone of your sleep stats for the night.

I hate sleeping with mine because I can't sleep on my stomach like I'm used to, so I always wake up in pain because of $h!tty mattresses.
