question... running winnipeg to Edmonton in one day...is this even legal? Its on paper logs but truly can this be run legal while going through Winnipeg, regina, Saskatoon, battlefords, llyodminster? Can a driver log this legally in one 13 hour driving day?

That's a little over 1300 kms, so the odds of being able to do that run legally would be awfully slim; if you hit even the slightest bit of traffic anywhere, you'd be toast, let alone any of the other many things that could slow you down.

The shortest route is 1350 km so unless the speed limit is 110 it is not "legal" - doing an average speed of 90 km/h non stop will take 15 hours

I completely agree. I was a driver for years and years and now am in the office manning logs for our drivers and dispatching...one of my drivers handed in his paper logs showing 13 hours from the peg to Edmonton...old schoolers in the office are saying "oh yeah its possible" and I'm arguing HELLLL no its not

If the truck is governed to 65 mph and you're honest, it's not possible to run it legal, I never made it in 13 hrs. I couldn't make it in 13 hrs to Calgary from Winnipeg. But with paper logs you can make it look legal o_O

Flying J Headingley to Flying J Sherwood Park is 1274 km up the 16.

In 13 hours, that's an average of 98 km/h. The speed limit on the 16 between Portage la Prairie and Saskatoon is 100 km/h. Good luck going faster than 85-88 km/h average through there. You are slowing down to 50-70 km/h every 25-40 km for another town. And assuming you don't get stuck behind someone doing 85 km/h, you'd have to speed to keep your average as high as 98 km/h.

If you drive a truck that goes to Ontario, there is no way you are going to Calgary or Edmonton in a single day legally.

The MOT knows this, even with a 70 mph truck, you'll be speeding almost the entire time to get there under 13 hours. If your company's logbook auditor doesn't nail you on it, the MOT will.

Cant do it legal. I would run about 30 east of Calgary from Winnipeg and then have to change books so as to not attract undue attention. Thunder Bay to Richmond BC was a 44 hour run with a 6 hour nap usually at Canmore Ab. Had to be bright eyed and bushy tailed to run the mountains:)

What does that have to do with Winnipeg to Edmonton? Sure they are 'burbs of each city, but closer enough together that comparing therm means nothing for the op's question.
