You guys, who cares what his spelling and grammar is like, his message seems to be clear.

That said, this is abuse by the company. I don't give a crap what his reasons are, you can't be hit with an abandonment ding on your record unless you actually had the load.

I am not talking about assigned a load, but actually went there and picked it up.

But let's say that it is an assignment of the load that is considered the key to an abandonment, in this case he refused the load and in doing so wasn't really assigned to the load.

I won't get into the territory thing, that's not important because the issue of abuse I see.

If it was me, I would have not quit, I would have run it.

Love the new breed of driver...... I don't run the NE, i don't go to Chicago, I don't run in the snow, I don't run at night, etc. etc. There are places I would rather not run, but guess what, I signed on with a 48 state carrier, I go where I'm dispatched. If I owned a company, and a driver tried to dictate to me where he would and would not run, he would be cleaning out his truck.

Back in 2001 as a trainer with FFE some of the Commandments coming down from what I teasingly called the Ivory Tower group of officers in Lancaster's upper floors... eh.. anyhow they were beginning to talk about such things about not running that trainee through the night.

Wife and I started talking about that future. OTR by daytime only. It's not acceptable to us and not why we run.

Several of you made amendments and improved my view of the situation. I say perhaps he chickened out and refused to go to Jersey. That's a shame in one way and the company would have fired him for it. Or at very least made him sit for two weeks with no dispatch as a punishment. These old time acts were fairly common back in my time and I fear the new generation does not have the *Hunts for words... balls to be truckers the way I understand the term. Perhaps we should replace a whole generation with robot trucks that will not know what Central west chicago is....

You didn't abandon the load. Load abandonment & quitting under dispatch aren't even close to the same things.

    a) Get some legal eagle to get that changed.
    b) Find a smaller company that doesn't give a rat's about DAC, as long as your MVR is ok.
    c) Don't do something like that again, always take the truck back to the terminal. Just drop the bomb on them when you quit.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about the northeast, Chicago, and California anymore.

California is great. I won't fight anyone to get to Chi Town or the NE though.

Not the end of the world, find an O/O and don't look back. They will usually treat you better than most company gigs. Just no insurance... But you sound young, so no worries.
