There is, but I don't know about availability for commercial vehicles or cost.

AND...I have seen some funny stuff happen at the border...getting back into the US is usually more of a problem, in fact, it embarrasses me the way US Border guards act...but the Canadiens will do their jobs too...if you have ever been arrested for even minor stuff, they can pull it up and find it. If it's your first time up there, expect them to pull you aside and put you in a waiting room while they run your name through an international data base. I'm not kidding. The first time I went in I was there for about an hour and a half.

And you mentioned that this is a favor for some friends...just make sure they haven't left anything inside the vehicle that could cause problems for you. Pocket knives are no big deal, but large amounts of weed, or cash, or a stray 9mm shell or a hidden pistol could be a big problem. One time I saw a total stoner trying to get in...I mean this kid was a classic pot head and the guard knew it, asking him in his accent, "Soooo ayyyyy nhow I don care if I find a little bit of pot inside your vehicle, but is there anything else aye might find if I take a closer look? You should just tell me right now if there is and save urself a bunch of trouble ay?"

The first time I went he searched my cell phone for "illegal activities" (child porn, I assume) and said he would take a swab of the interior for traces of explosives and drugs. I had just been issued that truck with 500,000 miles on it. I didn't know what people had been doing in that truck. Had me a little worried.

Wow. I didn't have that level of invasion, but after going up regularly for 6 months I went through wearing a camo hoodie that I got for Xmas, and the guard decided to pull me in for a record check. All depends on the person on duty and their preconceived notions.
