Still learning this site so just found your answer thread to me. No wont be ready for school for about 4mos. I am thinking tanker because I hear it is decent money and not as hard as flatbed. I don't mind doing some running if there is money in it. Its just me and the wife so which one should I concentrate on for decent money and security, also what should I be trying to study before going to school. Ill trust you on southwest. Hopefully I can find your reply.

Try and get you CLP and pass endorsement tests on your own.

That’ll put you ahead of the other students, and you will have more time to focus on learning to drive.

Google : Free CDL Practice Tests Nevada, then memorize as much as you can.
Some companies you can take the wife along and they're set up for driver comfort with APU, satellite radio, refrigerator/freezer, etc.
There's not a lot in tankers for new drivers in Las Vegas, but after 6 mos. and more experience, many doors start to open, such as A&R Logistics and Indian River Transport.

Hey there....I am no longer with CTL. I now work for Rogers Cartage, a tankstar, inc. company. They have a sister company "Schwerman" and "North American bulk. "
I am enjoying this company so far. They are great at keeping me going, and they pay well.

CTL started me out @ .45 loaded and empty. They go up at 6 month intervals for a pretty nice increase , if you stay with them. The main reason I let go of them was equipment issues (inverter), and I would end up getting laid over for days every time I went out. I think comcar is under new management/ ownership now, so maybe that's a good thing.

Rogers definitely runs me more efficient, and they are just better overall.

Tank wagons is where it's at, for me at least.
