When I was hauling specialized transports in Europe I was deadheading back most of the time, from Norway, Spain, Greece empty back to Germany.
One of my best trips was from Germany to South of Italy, delivered my load and then empty to Portugal to pick up a load back to Germany, deadhead about 1750 miles.
The trips payed so good that the empty miles were covered.
This was the company in Germany: Morschhäuser Schwertransporte - Activities
Edit: They are looking for drivers

I deadhead home to Texas from Fargo every week. Backhauls are mostly non existent with tankers, unload and head home.

What is it like having to go through so many countries? Crossing into Canada can be tricky enough, I can’t imagine 3-4 countries at a time. The Kraut Thanks this.

Considering they're all EU countries, I suspect it's not much different than crossing state lines here. Maybe a simple checkpoint, but probably much less complicated than crossing into Soviet Canuckistan or Mexico.

Magnum does tankers or is this a different company?
-
It’s a different company.

EU countries is not a problem, just drive thru the border since years. But if you go from Germany to Italy thru Switzerland, it's like 20 years ago, customs, paperwork, stamps...
From Italy I went thru France, Spain to Portugal, no border stopping.
When I started truck driving 37 years ago, it was tricky, you had to stop at every border and run thru customs. lots of waiting times, sometimes days.Rugerfan Thanks this. -
I wish we did! I'm getting hungry to change up the routine. I talked to one of our owners about learning new skills (new types of freight) and he said we won't be expanding into more types of freight in the immediate future. But he did say something along the lines of "in a few years". I don't remember exactly what he said. I don't want to misquote. But at least its something they're willing to entertain down the line. We do have a small flatbed fleet, but that's not OTR.
I think more drivers should ask him about more freight options. Maybe that would encourage him.
