Hello all, im new to tractor-trailer driving and I've been reading that some ltl folks struggle to find drive time from their ltl terminals. Some areas are more busy with freight than others so I was wondering whether Sacramento or the bay area had more freight and consistent work.
If someone is from these areas I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thank you for the reply mnmover, I'm from Sacramento currently running otr and looking to go ltl close to home. Are you a driver at yrc in Tracy, how is the year round work?

I believe R+L has a terminal in Sacramento.

Thank you for the reply but I'm wondering more about the freight movement and pattern in the area. Is it reliable and keep me working?

If you are new to driving you might not be able to get on line haul right away. Ltl companies will hire newer drivers for pickup and delivery, then you can transfer to line haul after 6 months or a year if you want. All in your area Saia, Old Dominion, UPS Freight, Estes, Reddaway. Saia or Old Dominion would be my choice. All of them will keep you working steady.

UPS is the goal. I'm going to apply once I have 1 year experience.
