I need good repair shop to most probably overhaul Cummins engine in Atlanta , Ga . 2011 prostar with 650000 miles on it and Anyone can recommend any shop in that area? Cylinder block and crankcase worn , maybe turbo need to be replaced too, Cylinder 1 is apparently dead and i got quoted from dealer $22500 for all work ,
Just looking for second opinion and another estimate , I had turbo replaced 11 months ago , so thanks god it is still under warranty but they told me that can take month or two.
    Any advice?

Yes , that was dealer quoting me $22500 , and my guy in Chicago is charging 12-15k for overhaul and turbo in Chicago is $3400 + core vs. dealer price in Georgia $5100 + core .

I would check with the Cummins dealers down there, thy might be able to give you more options on what to do. For 22,500 you can buy 2011 Prostars all day long. Not that the price sounds unreasonable but maybe something like a used engine would be a better option.

Check your PM's. Seems like the first thing any Cummins shop jumps to is an inframe and a turbo, and seems like they screw that up too. And yes I agree with others that say those trucks are a dime a dozen. On the other hand, you know what you have, so that has some value. I'd say be ready to just trade it, but don't assume the worst just yet.

Would it be possible to put a Big Cam in that? A crate motor is about 10k

Try CTRC truck repair in Conyers. They're good people.
