This is true, I see the importance of hiring a lawyer if anything should happen down the road (although I'm going to make sure that I do everything in my power to prevent something like this again) but at this point, the ticket has been issued/paid and it's on my record. I love your suggestion about contacting the judge though. Maybe they could help but like you said, the worst they can say is no

 

The school that I plan on attending teaches on manuals, I definitely don't want any restrictions!

It does show up on my MVR. I pulled my record about 3 months after I got the ticket and it was on there.

A couple of other people have also mentioned taking a defensive driving course, I think that's a excellent idea and I'm going to look into it further.

Funny you should mention this, i have definitely been finding lately that the right lane is my friend. I do a good amount of highway driving and this tip certainly does help a lot. Like you say, there is no pressure to speed up which is a good thing... I drive a fast car so going a higher rate of speed feels much more effortless and easy to dismiss then it does in a slower or heavier vehicle - I've just been trying so hard lately to keep a close eye on it.
